Bayern Munich are looking to leapfrog Borussia Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga table and capture their seventh consecutive title as the two giants clash at Allianz Arena on Saturday. The reverse fixture was played in November and it was a spectacular one, Borussia Dortmund won it 3-2 despite being 1-0 and 2-1 down after Robert Lewandowski bagged a double for Bayern. Marco Reus scored twice for Borussia in that match and then Paco Alcacer netted the winning goal. That was the first victory for Borussia after three consecutive defeats against Bayern.
Bayern Munich are having their worst season in years, they got knocked out of the UEFA Champions League in the round of sixteen as they lost 3-1 at home to Liverpool after a goalless draw at Anfield and are also in danger of missing out on the Bundesliga title after six consecutive triumphs. The Bavarians are currently in second place, two points behind Borussia Dortmund with seven games left in the season. Last week they were unable to get more than a 1-1 draw at Freiburg, and that result dropped them to second place. This week Bayern had a tough match against second-tier side Hindenheim in the German Cup quarter-finals, but eventually won the match 5-4. Manuel Neuer and David Alaba missed the last two matches through injury, but both should recover in time for the derby. Corentin Tolisso, Alphonso Davies and Arjen Robben are sidelined for the home side.
Borussia Dortmund were also knocked out of the UEFA Champions League in the last sixteen, they lost 3-0 away and 1-0 at home against Tottenham. Their form in the Bundesliga was a lot better lately, they have won the last three matches after a tough period with just one victory in eight matches in all competitions. In fact, that streak allowed Bayern to get back to the top of the table, but now Borussia have the title in their own hands, it's theirs to lose. Last week they won 2-0 at home against Wolfsburg and this week they had the chance to rest as their German Cup run ended before the quarter-finals. Christian Pulisic, Maximilian Philipp, Abdou Diallo and Achraf Hakimi are injured and won't be in the squad for Saturday's match.
Bayern: Neuer - Kimmich, Sule, Hummels, Alaba - Martinez, Alcantara - Gnabry, Goretzka, Coman - Lewandowski
Borussia: Burki - Wolf, Akanji, Zagadou, Guerreiro - Witsel, Delaney - Sancho, Reus, Larsen - Alcacer
My prediction: 2-2 draw, it will be a very intense match but none of the two sides will be able to win it.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
Bayern win - 1.53
