Manchester United are looking to secure their third consecutive win when they host Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Sunday. The reverse fixture has been a tricky one for the Red Devils, they won it 2-1 but Callum Wilson had scored to put Bournemouth ahead before Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford found the back of the net for Manchester City. Moreover, Rashford's goal was scored in the 92nd minute. That was the third consecutive win for Manchester United against Bournemouth and the fifth in the last six matches. The Cherries have not won against Manchester United since 2015, when they grabbed a 2-1 home win.
Manchester United are definitely feeling a revival after the sacking of manager Jose Mourinho, they have won two matches out of two under new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and scored eight goals in the process. Solskjaer's reign started with a 5-1 victory at Cardiff and continued with a 3-1 victory over Huddersfield on Boxing Day, with a double from French midfielder Paul Pogba. The Red Devils are now just six points behind fifth-placed Arsenal, now they can really hope to move up towards the top four. Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial could all be available after recent injuries, but Marcos Rojo and Chris Smalling remain sidelined.
Bournemouth have not been doing too well lately, they have lost eight of their last ten matches in all competitions and only won two games during that spell, both at home. Their last victory was a 2-0 over Brighton on December 22, but then they got hammered 5-0 at Tottenham on Boxing Day. That result relegated the Cherries to 12th place, but still a comfortable 14 points above the relegation zone. Simon Francis picked up an injury during the Spurs match and will be unavailable for the trip to Manchester, along with Adam Smith, Lewis Cook and Dan Gosling.
Man United: De Gea - Young, Bailly, Lindelof, Shaw - Herrera, Matic, Pogba - Lingard, Lukaku, Martial
Bournemouth: Begovic - S. Cook, Ake, Mings - Fraser, Lerma, Surman, Rico - Brooks, Wilson, King
My prediction: Manchester United to win 3-0, the Cherries can't stop the Red Devils in their current state of form.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
Man United win - 1.36
Draw - 5.50
Bournemouth win - 9.00
