Tottenham are looking to extend their unbeaten streak to six games in all competition when they visit Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday. The Spurs dominated the Toffees last season, they won 4-0 in London with goals from Son Heung-Min and Christian Eriksen and a double from Harry Kane and 3-0 at Goodison Park with another brace from Harry Kane and a goal from Eriksen. That was the third consecutive win for Tottenham over Everton after three consecutive draws. Everton have not defeated Tottenham since 2012, when they secured a 2-1 home victory in the Premier League.
Everton are looking to break a spell of four consecutive matches without a win, they have not tasted victory since the 1-0 success over Cardiff at the end of November. Last week they lost 3-1 at leaders Manchester City after consecutive draws at home against Watford and Newcastle and a 1-0 defeat against rivals Liverpool in the Merseyside derby. The Toffees are now eighth in the Premier League table, ten points behind fifth-placed Arsenal. Midfielders Idrissa Gueye and James McCarthy are fitness doubts for manager Marco Silva, who could revert to a formation with four defenders for this match after having experimented with three at the back last week.
Tottenham have been in very good form lately, they are unbeaten in their last five matches in all competitions and the only draw in that streak was against the mighty Barcelona in the Champions League. Last week the Spurs grabbed a 1-0 victory over Burnley in the Premier League, and this week they got their revenge over rivals Arsenal with a 2-0 victory in the quarter finals of the League Cup. However, manager Mauricio Pochettino has to deal with an injury crisis as Victor Wanyama, Mousa Dembele and Eric Dier are all ruled out, along with Vincent Janssen, Jan Vertonghen and Serge Aurier. Davinson Sanchez has made his return to training but this match might come too soon for him.
Everton: Pickford - Coleman, Mina, Keane, Digne - Gomes, T. Davies - Walcott, Sigurdsson, Bernard - Richarlison
Tottenham: Lloris - Trippier, Alderweireld, B. Davies, Rose - Sissoko, Winks - Eriksen, Alli, Son Heung-Min - Kane
My prediction: Tottenham to win 2-1, the Spurs are full of confidence and they should be able to edge past Everton.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
Everton win - 3.25
Draw - 3.50
Tottenham win - 2.30
Everton not doing great lately and when we have in mind the Spurs current form and the way they just smashed the Toffees by an aggregate score of 7-0 in their two meetings last season it seems to be a huge challenge for the home side this one.
Hopefully we would see a spectacle and many goals so why not 3-3 as a prediction...probably that's too optimistic though:)
