Liverpool are looking to extend their winning streak in the Premier League to five matches when they travel to face Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday. Last season Liverpool grabbed a comfortable 4-0 victory in this fixture, with goals from Philippe Coutinho, Dejan Lovren, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino. The reverse fixture produced another easy win for the Reds, it ended 3-0 with Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah on the score sheet. However, Bournemouth did beat Liverpool 4-3 two years ago and also secured a 2-2 draw at Anfield in that season.
Bournemouth have finally ended their losing streak this week, they had four consecutive defeats before the 2-1 victory over Huddersfield on Tuesday. They Cherries did have a very tough schedule though as they faced Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City during that four-match span. Now they have moved up to seventh place in the league table, tied on 23 points with Everton and Man United. Midfielder Lewis Cook suffered a severe injury in Tuesday's match against Huddersfield, he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament and will be out of action for up to nine months. Adam Smith is also out of contention, while Dan Gosling is an injury doubt.
Liverpool have a four-match winning streak going in the Premier League, last weekend they won the Merseyside derby 1-0 thanks to a very late goal from Divock Origi, while this week they won 3-1 at Burnley to consolidate their second place in the league table. Now the Reds are six points clear of third-placed Tottenham, but leaders Manchester City are still two points ahead. Joe Gomez suffered a serious injury during the match at Burnley, a leg fracture that will keep him out of action for up to two months. Andrew Robertson and Sadio Mane missed Wednesday's match through injury and they remain doubts ahead of Saturday's game.
Bournemouth: Begovic - Francis, S. Cook, Ake, Daniels - Brooks, Surman, Lerma, Fraser - King, Wilson
Liverpool: Alisson - Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson - Fabinho, Keita - Shaqiri, Firmino, Lallana - Salah
My prediction: Liverpool to win 2-1, the Cherries are a strong team but the Reds should find a way to squeeze past them.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
Bournemouth win - 5.50
Draw - 4.50
Liverpool win - 1.61
