Manchester United: Anthony Martial returns to training
Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has returned to training on Thursday after having left the team's tour of the United States in order to be with his wife for the birth of their first child. The French international posted a message on Twitter on Wednesday, announcing that the baby was fine and his wife was "better now", while adding that "family will always come first". That seems to be a reply to manager Jose Mourinho, who was upset because Martial did not return to the United States to rejoin the team immediately after the baby was born. This is what Mourinho said at the time: "Anthony Martial has the baby and after the baby is born - beautiful baby, full of health, thank God - he should be here and he is not here." Then, after his team's last match in the United States, Mourinho was asked about Martial's return to the club and the Portuguese manager replied that he doesn't know when or if Martial will return. Martial's post on Twitter was in French, the translation would be as follows: "Thank you all for your messages. My little Swan is fine. For the mother it was more difficult but thank god she is better now. Sorry but my family will always come before everything... Back tomorrow in Manchester." The 22-year-old French international is under contract with Manchester United until the end of the season, but the club have the option to extend the deal for another year. The forward scored 11 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions last season, but after the arrival of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in January his presences in the starting eleven became increasingly rare. Martial was bought by Manchester United from AS Monaco in 2015 for 36 million pounds and went on to score 36 goals in 136 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils. Earlier this summer the player's agent has revealed that Anthony Martial wanted to leave Manchester United due to the limited opportunities to play in the starting eleven. Anthony Martial is 3/1 to join Chelsea this summer, while Tottenham are 5/1 to sign the French forward before the end of the current transfer window.
