AS Roma have found a goalkeeper to replace Alisson, they have brought in Swedish goalie Robin Olsen from FC Copenhagen. Roma sold Brazilian goalie Alisson to Liverpool for 65 million pounds earlier this month, making him the most expensive goalkeeper in the history of football, and now they paid just 8 million pounds on his replacement. 28-year-old Olsen is a reliable goalkeeper, he played in all five Sweden matches at the 2018 World Cup as his side reached the quarter-finals. The Swedish goalie signed a five-year contract with Roma.
"I'm feeling happy, I'm very excited," said Olsen. "It's a big honour to come to Roma. It's the next step for me and I cannot wait to get started." Olsen will wear the number one shirt at Roma and he is expected to be their first-choice goalkeeper in the coming season. "Robin is a goalkeeper with international experience and I think he can bring that level to Roma with him," Roma sporting director Monchi said. "I am confident he can build on the quality that has seen him firmly establish himself as Sweden's number one."
Roma have bought another two goalkeepers this summer: veteran 34-year-old Antonio Mirante from Bologna and 21-year-old Brazilian goalie Daniel Fuzato from Palmeiras. They have spent around 100 million euros on new players this summer but they have brought in some very interesting names. The most expensive transfer of the summer so far was the arrival of Argentinian midfielder Javier Pastore from PSG for around 25 million euros, while the transfer of Dutch winger Justin Kluivert from Ajax was worth 17 million euros.
AS Roma are 13/2 at Bet365 to win the Serie A title next season.
