Premier League: Jose Mourinho dismisses Paul Pogba transfer rumours
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says there is no conflict between him and French midfielder Paul Pogba and that the player will remain at the club next season. The 25-year-old midfielder had been linked with a move away from United after he apparently fell out of favour with his manager. Jose Mourinho has chosen to leave Paul Pogba out of his team's starting line-up for several important fixtures this season, including both legs of the Champions League last-16 defeat at the hands of Spanish side Sevilla. "I think he's going to be here next season," Mourinho said of Pogba. "That's my feeling. I can give the guarantee that I don't want him to leave, that the club doesn't want to sell him, and I can give you the guarantee that we don't have any approach from him or his agent or from any club. In this moment, for me, he's staying, yes." Pogba joined Manchester United for a then-world record transfer fee of 89 million pounds from Juventus in August 2016. He scored 5 goals in 30 Premier League appearances last season, while this season he made just 25 league appearances and scored 3 goals. Jose Mourinho says that his side needs to improve if they want to challenge for the title next season and that his players need to be more consistent. "I trust some more than others that can bridge that gap. Some of the players I am totally convinced are going to make it, some others I have good hopes that they are going to make it, and some others I don't believe they are going to make it," the manager said. "If you go to the Premier League managers, I don't say every one, but I say the majority of them will tell you the same. In my squad, I have some players where I would like to have better than what I have." Manchester United are 6/1 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title next season.
