Premier League: Chelsea vs Liverpool preview

Chelsea have a last chance to catch the Champions League train this season, they host Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday and if the Blues win the match then they have a real shot at finishing in the top four. The reverse fixture ended 1-1 in November, Mohamed Salah opened the scoring for Liverpool but Willian made it all square on 85 minutes. Liverpool have won two of the last five direct matches against Chelsea, while the Blues have not managed to defeat the Reds in the last eight matches in all competitions.

Chelsea seemed out of the race for a top-four finish but this weekend they could bounce right back into it. The Blues are six points behind Liverpool, but they have a game in hand, so if they win both Sunday's match and the game in hand then they could put the Reds out of the top four and take their place. Chelsea have won their last three Premier League matches and have not lost any of the last four games. David Luiz remains sidelined for the Blues, but Marcos Alonso can play again after having served his three-match suspension.

Liverpool will surely be pretty tired ahead of this match after having played a very tough Champions League match at Roma on Wednesday and also after having celebrated their qualification to the final. The Reds have two Premier League matches left to play before the final against Real Madrid, and they still have to make sure of finishing in the top four. A draw in Sunday's match would pretty much seal the deal for Jurgen Klopp's men, while Mohamed Salah will still be looking to score in order to win the race with Barcelona's Lionel Messi for the European Golden Boot.

Probable line-ups:

Chelsea: Courtois - Azpilicueta, Cahill, Rudiger - Moses, Kante, Fabregas, Alonso - Willian, Hazard - Morata

Liverpool: Karius - Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, Van Dijk, Robertson - Wijnaldum, Henderson, Milner - Salah, Firmino, Mane

My prediction: 3-3 draw.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Chelsea win - 2.14
Draw - 3.50
Liverpool win - 3.20

The game has been a vital one to the home side to keep any chances for the top 4 battle and they took it in the end although as we know that wasn't enough for them.
Still the season has become decent for Chelsea after they won the FA Cup last week but the real question is what their future would be after we not even sure who will be the manager next season.
