Premier League: Roberto Firmino signs new Liverpool contract
Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino has agreed terms with Liverpool on a new contract, the Reds have announced this on their official website on Sunday. Firmino scored 27 goals in 50 appearances in all competitions this season, by far his best campaign since he has joined the Reds. He moved to Anfield Road from German club Hoffenheim in 2015 for 29 million pounds and has become a key part of the attacking trio that has produced quite a few goals this season alongside Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. "It was an easy decision," Firmino said after having signed the new contract. "The club have taken me in in an incredible way and I've grown a lot here with my work with the support of the whole team. I am very, very happy here. Everything fits in the best possible way. My team-mates are fantastic and I am very grateful to be able to play with them at this club. I love to play for Liverpool FC. The fans are excellent and fantastic in how they support us all the way. They support us throughout the games and the work they do during the match is beautiful." Things have not been easy for Firmino at the start of his Liverpool career, he took no less than 14 appearances to score his first goal after having joined the club and only managed to score 11 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions during his first season with the Reds. Last season he improved his record but he only bagged 12 goals in 41 appearances, 11 of them in the Premier League. This season he has already scored 15 Premier League goals and has helped the club reach the Champions League semi-finals with 11 goals in 13 appearances. Roberto Firmino is 13/8 at SkyBet to score again in Liverpool's next match, the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final at Roma on Wednesday.
