Premier League: Swansea vs Chelsea preview

Dethroned Premier League champions Chelsea still have their pride to fight for as they travel to face Swansea at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday. The Blues won the reverse fixture 1-0 in December, defender Antonio Rudiger scored the only goal of the match. That was the second consecutive win for the Blues against the Swans, but the record of the last six direct meetings shows just three wins for Chelsea and one for Swansea. However, the Swans have won just once in the last thirteen Premier League matches against Chelsea.

Swansea have their fate in their own hands, if they win three of the remaining four Premier League matches they will survive in the top flight for another season. It surely is easier said than done, though, because the Swans have not won any of their last five Premier League matches and got hammered 5-0 at new champions Manchester City last time out. However, their home record is rock-solid, they have not lost a Premier League match at the Liberty Stadium since the beginning of January and have won four of the last five home games. Wilfried Bony and Leroy Fer remain injured, while Federico Fernandez might also miss out.

Chelsea have the FA Cup to look forward to during these last weeks of the season, but they can't disregard the Premier League matches even though their hopes of climbing into the top four are almost gone. Last weekend the Blues defeated Southampton 2-0 in the FA Cup semi-final to set up a final match against Manchester United, and three days before that they defeated Burnley 2-1 in the Premier League. Marcos Alonso is suspended for Saturday's match, while David Luiz remains sidelined due to an injury.

Probable line-ups:

Swansea: Fabianski - Naughton, Hoorn, Bartley, Mawson, Olsson - A. Ayew, King, Sung-yueng, Clucas - J. Ayew

Chelsea: Courtois - Azpilicueta, Cahill, Rudiger - Moses, Kante, Fabregas, Emerson - Willian, Hazard - Morata

My prediction: Chelsea to win 3-1.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Swansea win - 8.50
Draw - 4.00
Chelsea win - 1.44

Swansea need some points and in a hurry too.

Not having much to play for in the PL Chelsea still should make some efforts in this one but the struggling Swansea side would definitely have the opportunity to take something from the game, if they play decent enough of course.
I think it would come to the last couple of weeks of the season between Southampton and Swansea and maybe even Stoke would have their chances.
