Manchester City secure Premier League title
Manchester City have been awarded the Premier League title on Sunday after rivals Manchester United suffered a surprising 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford against relegation-threatened West Bromwich Albion. The result handed Manchester City the title with five matches to spare since United are now 16 points behind the league leaders. This is the third title for City in the last seven seasons but it is the first Premier League crown for Spanish manager Pep Guardiola, who pulled off this achievement during his second season in charge at City. The Citizens have dominated the league since the start of the season, they have lost just two matches and scored an impressive 93 goals so far. For Pep Guardiola, the Premier League title is the 24th trophy that he has won during his incredible career, he has previously won the league title in Spain and Germany and also won the Champions League on two occasions with Barcelona. Manchester City have stepped up since Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan bought the club in 2008, they have won seven trophies since then. This season Manchester City have set a new Premier League record with 18 consecutive wins and they have defeated every team in the league at least once during this remarkable campaign. Their first loss of the season was the 4-3 defeat at Anfield Road in January and they have scored in all but one of their league matches. The Citizens have also won the League Cup this season as they defeated Arsenal in the final, but they crashed out of the FA Cup in February and lost in the Champions League quarter-finals last week. Manchester City are 8/11 at Betway to win the Premier League title again in 2019.
