UEFA Champions League: Juventus vs Real Madrid preview

Two giants clash on Tuesday at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, Serie A champions Juventus host LaLiga and Champions League holders Real Madrid for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-finals tie. The two teams last met in the Champions League final last season, which Real Madrid won 4-1. Overall, the two sides have met nineteen times in European competitions and Real Madrid have a slight advantage with nine victories compared to Juventus' eight.

Juventus have been in great form lately, they have not lost a match since November and have climbed back to the top of the Serie A table. In the previous round they had to play very well to get past Tottenham after a 2-2 draw in Turin, they were trailing 1-0 at half-time in London but Dybala and Higuain scored to turn the match around. Last weekend the Bianconeri defeated AC Milan 3-1 to consolidate their place at the top of the Serie A table. Miralem Pjanic and Mehdi Benatia are suspended for this match, while Mario Mandzukic, Federico Bernardeschi and Alex Sandro are fitness doubts.

Real Madrid have nothing left to play for this season apart for the Champions League, their LaLiga campaign is definitely below expectations. However, they have won their last five matches in all competitions, including last weekend's 3-0 LaLiga victory at Las Palmas. In the previous Champions League round Real Madrid had a tough time against PSG but eventually prevailed 3-1 in Madrid and 2-1 in Paris. Nacho is the only injury concern for the away side, Cristiano Ronaldo was rested at the weekend and is ready to play on Tuesday.

Probable line-ups:

Juventus: Buffon - De Sciglio, Barzagli, Chiellini, Sandro - Khedira, Matuidi - Cuadrado, Dybala, Costa - Higuain

Real Madrid: Navas - Carvajal, Varane, Ramos, Marcelo - Modric, Casemiro, Kroos - Isco - Benzema, Ronaldo

My prediction: 1-1 draw.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Juventus win - 2.89
Draw - 3.29
Real Madrid win - 2.62
