Premier League: Mohamed Elneny signs new Arsenal contract

Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny is still regarded as a solid option for the future at Arsenal as the club have offered him a new long-term contract. "We're pleased to announce that Mo Elneny has signed a new long-term contract with the club," Arsenal said in a statement, but the club didn't go into any further details. Egypt international Mohamed Elneny is 25 years old and he will represent his nation at the upcoming World Cup in Russia. He already has 57 caps for the senior national team and he has also scored five goals for Egypt.

At the start of the current season Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger praised Elneny: "He is a fantastic boy, we love him here. His best years are in front of him. It took him some time to adapt to the intensity of the games and I think he was not aggressive enough for the Premier League. But now he has added that to his game." However, Elneny made just nine Premier League appearances this season as he was mostly employed by Arsene Wenger in Europa League matches and other cup games.

Mohamed Elneny was a backup player at the Emirates Stadium since he joined Arsenal in January 2016 for 5 million pounds from Swiss club Basel, but he is regarded as a reliable option in case he is needed. It is unclear whether the new contract means that the Arsenal management think Elneny has evolved enough to become a first-team regular. Overall, Mohamed Elneny made 34 Premier League appearances for Arsenal in two and a half seasons and is still waiting for his first league goal in England.

Arsenal are currently sixth in the Premier League table and they are 1/66 at Bet365 to keep their place in the top six at the end of the season.

Elneny is maybe not the most exiting player on the world but like Johnny mentioned above he's solid, I think that's the right word to describe him.
And yes obviously he has improved since the first months of his Arsenal career and the club/manager apparently believe the progress will continue in future too.
His age also helped the new deal I believe as a 25y.o he has many football still ahead of him
