Premier League: Harry Kane out until next month
Top-four contenders Tottenham have suffered a significant scare as top goalscorer Harry Kane suffered a serious injury. The striker damaged his ankle ligaments during last weekend's Premier League victory over Bournemouth as he collided with Cherries goalkeeper Asmir Begovic. The player underwent a scan on Monday and it confirmed the extent of the injury, the club said in a statement that the striker will return to action next month. Harry Kane has scored 35 goals for the Spurs in all competitions this season and is expected to be a key player for England at this summer's World Cup in Russia. Kane will miss Tottenham's FA Cup match against Swansea on Saturday and then two England friendly matches, against the Netherlands on 23 March and against Italy on 27 march. Spurs fans were fearing the worst after last weekend's game because Harry Kane missed 10 matches last season with a similar injury to the same ankle. Then, in 2017, he injured the same ankle during an FA Cup match against Millwall and was out for a month. "Disappointing to be out until next month but injuries are part of the game," the striker wrote on Twitter. "Will do everything I can to get back out there ASAP." Tottenham are currently third in the Premier League table, but fourth-placed Liverpool are just one point behind and fifth-placed Chelsea are five points adrift. The Spurs have won their last four matches and Kane has not scored in the last two, but he did score the decisive goals in the 1-0 victories over Arsenal and Crystal Palace in February. He has scored 24 Premier League goals in 29 appearances this season, by far more than any of his team-mates. The next Premier League match for the Spurs is a tough London Derby against Chelsea on April 1st. Tottenham are 1/6 at Bet365 to finish inside the Premier League top four this season.
