Liverpool are looking to get back to winning ways on Boxing Day as they meet last-placed Swansea at Anfield Road. However, last season the Swans won 3-2 in Liverpool after having lost 2-1 at home. Moreover, Swansea won two of the last four direct matches and they scored at least one goal in three of those four games. Liverpool have won four of the last six matches against Swansea.
Liverpool put on quite a show last week, they threw away a two-goal lead and had to fight back to grab a 3-3 draw at Arsenal. Unfortunately for them, there's no extra points for entertainment, so the Reds are fourth in the Premier League table, 20 points behind leaders Manchester City. Jordan Henderson picked up a knock against Arsenal and will be unavailable for this match, along with Nathaniel Clyne and Alberto Moreno.
Swansea will probably have to struggle all season, they have sacked manager Paul Clement but they are still at the bottom of the Premier League table and safety is now four points away. Last week they snatched a 1-1 draw at home against fellow relegation candidates Crystal Palace, ending a two-game losing streak. Kyle Bartley and Wilfried Bony are injured, while Leroy Fer and Ki Sung-yueng are fitness doubts ahead of Tuesday's match.
Liverpool: Karius - Alexander-Arnold, Klavan, Matip, Robertson - Wijnaldum, Milner, Coutinho - Salah, Firmino, Chamberlain
Swansea: Fabianski - Rangel, Fernandez, Mawson, Olsson - Clucas, Mesa, Carroll - Dyer, Abraham, Ayew
My prediction: Liverpool to win 2-0.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
Liverpool win - 1.16
Draw - 9.00
Swansea win - 19.00
