Leicester City have appointed a new manager after having sacked Craig Shakespeare, French coach Claude Puel is the new boss at the King Power Stadium. The Frenchman signed a three-year contract with the club and becomes the third manager at the Foxes this year after Claudio Ranieri and Craig Shakespeare. The 56-year-old French boss was in charge of Southampton last season and got sacked in June despite having led them to an eighth-place Premier League finish and the League Cup final.
Michael Appleton took interim charge after the sacking of Craig Shakespeare and now he will remain at the club as assistant manager. Shakespeare was sacked just four months after having signed a three-year contract as Leicester manager. Leicester City vice-chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said Claude Puel was "a perfect fit" for the club. The Foxes are currently 14th in the Premier League table with just two wins from nine games. Puel managed Monaco, Lille, Lyon and Nice before taking his first Premier League job at Southampton.
"Upon meeting Claude, his attention to detail, knowledge of our squad, understanding of our potential and his vision to help us realise it were extremely impressive," vice-chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha added. "He quickly emerged as the outstanding candidate and I am delighted we will have the opportunity to reinforce our long-term vision, aided significantly by his expertise." Claude Puel said: "The opportunity to help the club build on its remarkable recent achievements is a truly exciting one and I'm looking forward to working with the owners, players, staff and supporters to deliver further lasting success."
Leicester City are 5/4 at Betfair to finish in the top half of the Premier League table this season.
