Premier League: Chelsea lose Alvaro Morata for several weeks
Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata limped off during his side's 1-0 defeat against Manchester City last weekend and it seems the injury is quite serious. The Spanish forward didn't get to make much of an impact on Saturday's match as he left the pitch in the first half and was replaced by Willian. He joined the Spanish national team ahead of their World Cup qualifiers with Albania and Israel, the team doctors assessed his muscular injury and eventually decided to send him back to London for treatment. He was diagnosed for a grade two myofascial injury and it's expected to take around eight weeks to heal but he will probably be out of action for longer than that as he will need to rebuild his fitness after recovering. He published a post on Instagram saying that he wanted to return for the game with Crystal Palace on 14 October but he later deleted that post. Chelsea have just one more striker in their squad, Belgium international Michy Batshuayi, but manager Antonio Conte can also choose to play with Eden Hazard as a false nine. Alvaro Morata had an instant impact at Chelsea after having joined them for a club record fee of 60 million pounds from Real Madrid this summer. He is the current top goal scorer for the Blues this season with seven goals, six of them scored in the Premier League. Last season he scored 15 goals in 26 league appearances for Real Madrid as he was just a backup for Karim Benzema. However, Michy Batshuayi has scored five goals so far this season, that is one every 38 minutes compared to Morata's ratio of one goal every 82 minutes. Chelsea are 9/1 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title this season.
