LaLiga: Karim Benzema signs new contract with Real Madrid
Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema has committed his future to the club by signing a four-year contract extension with the Blancos. He should remain at the club until June 2021, when he will be 33 years old. Real Madrid have also secured contract extensions for other players as Marcelo, Isco and Dani Carvajal have all extended their contracts with the club until 2022. 29-year-old Benzema has joined Real Madrid from Lyon for 25 million pounds in 2009 and went on to lift 14 trophies with the club. Benzema's contract was due to run out at the end of the 2018-2019 season. Last summer he was linked with a move to Premier League side Arsenal, but the French forward insisted that he had no reason to leave Real Madrid. Benzema said: "When you're at a club and you're a first-team regular, you don't need to look elsewhere - especially when you're at a club like Real Madrid. I think we're in one of Real Madrid's best periods ever, it's as simple as that. The team is really very strong." Alongside Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema is a key part in Real Madrid's attacking trio nicknamed "the BBC" by media and fans. Last season he scored 19 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions and this season he has scored just once in six appearances. Benzema scored 122 goals for Real Madrid since he joined them in 2009 and he also has 27 goals and 81 caps for the French national team. He was elected French Player of the year in 2011, 2012 and 2014. Real Madrid are 1/1 at Bet365 to win the LaLiga title again this season.
