Ligue 1: Paris Saint-Germain sign Kylian Mbappe
The much talked about transfer has finally gone through: AS Monaco rising star Kylian Mbappe joins giants Paris Saint-Germain. The deal is not yet permanent as Mbappe only joined PSG on a season-long loan deal. However, PSG are expected to make the deal permanent next summer but they would have to pay just over 165 million pounds to complete the transfer. Paris Saint-Germain have already broken the world transfer record this summer when they signed Barcelona's Neymar for 222 million euros. "I really wanted to be a part of the club's project, which is one of the most ambitious in Europe," said Mbappe, aged 18. PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi added: "It was essential for French football that we keep and help develop such a great talent in our championship. Among players of his age, he is without doubt the most promising in the world due to his immense technical, physical and mental qualities. Since his emergence at the highest level, he has earned an excellent reputation as a young talent who is very respectful, open, ambitious and already very mature." Last season Mbappe helped AS Monaco win the Ligue 1 title with 15 goals in 29 matches and he also scored six goals in ten Champions League appearances. Overall, he had 26 goals and 11 assists in 44 matches in all competitions last season. On Thursday he scored in France's 4-0 victory over the Netherlands in a World Cup qualifying match, becoming the youngest France goalscorer since 1963. PSG have opted for the loan deal in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations after having already spent huge amounts on new players this summer. PSG are 13/2 at Bet365 to win the Champions League next season.
