Premier League: Liverpool target title
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp does not want to play down his team's ambitions as he insists they are ready for a serious title challenge. The German manager believes he has a better squad than he had last year, when the Reds finished fourth and gained access to the Champions League play-offs. Liverpool have signed winger Mohamed Salah from AS Roma and left-back Andy Robertson from Hull City this summer, while all their first-team players from last season remained at the club. Klopp said: "We will be playing for the championship. We don't start a season by not having any ambitions. We have to have our goals. That's what we did last season. We aimed for the top, and we finished fourth. But I think we have a very good team now. We did have a bit of bad luck last season. I think we can play a little bit better. Let's hope everything will work very well and that there isn't much more to improve. We have to work very hard on it and we're doing that." Liverpool take on Bayern Munich in a friendly match at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night and head coach Carlo Ancelotti said he is waiting for the Reds in the group stage of the Champions League: "I think the Champions League this year will be more competitive because there are really important English teams in the competition - United, City, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool. I hope Jurgen will win in the qualification round and then Liverpool will help make the Champions League more competitive. It will be more difficult to win." Liverpool are currently 12/1 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title next season.
