Premier League: Nemanja Matic wants to join Manchester United

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho still wants to reinforce his midfield and it seems the deal with Chelsea for Serbian international Nemanja Matic is now closer to completion. The transfer fee is reported to be worth around 40 million pounds and Matic would become the third signing of the summer for the Red Devils after central defender Victor Lindelof and striker Romelu Lukaku. Manchester United beat Norwegian side Valerenga 3-0 on Sunday in a friendly match and after the game Mourinho said about Matic: "We are waiting for news. He wants it very much. I think we have a chance." There is a special relationship between Mourinho and Matic as the Portuguese manager was the one who brought him back to Stamford Bridge after he was discarded by the Blues for less than 5 million pounds in 2011. Mourinho spent 21 million pounds to bring Matic back to Chelsea from Benfica in January 2014 and the midfielder made 35 Premier League appearances last season to help the Blues win the title under manager Antonio Conte. Chelsea have secured the signing of young AS Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, so now they are willing to let Matic go. However, it seems that Juventus are also interested in signing the Serbian midfielder. Manchester United are 10/3 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title next season.
