Premier League: Leicester reject offer for Riyad Mahrez
Former Premier League champions Leicester City have turned down a bid from Serie A vice-champions AS Roma for winger Riyad Mahrez. The information was confirmed by Leicester City manage Craig Shakespeare, but the Algerian winger still wants to move to another club. Leicester finished 12th in the Premier League last season and reached the Champions League quarter-finals. Earlier this week Shakespeare said that the Foxes didn't receive any offers for Mahrez this summer, but he issued a new statement on Friday to clarify the matter. "I think I was quoted on the last press day that there was no bids," Shakespeare said. "There was a bid from Roma, I was told afterwards, so I would like to put the record straight on that one. It was politely declined on the basis that it was a low offer. Of what that offer is, don't ask me how much because I don't know and I don't get involved in that." Mahrez has been reportedly been valued at 50 million pounds by Leicester City. He was elected PFA player of the year in 2016 after helping the Foxes win the Premier League title with 17 league goals in 37 appearances. Last season Mahrez scored 10 goals and provided seven assists in 46 appearances in all competitions for the club. At the moment Mahrez is 1/1 at SkyBet to join AS Roma this summer, 2/1 to sign for Arsenal and 9/2 to remain at Leicester City after the transfer window closes.
