Premier League: Alexis Sanchez is not for sale
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has decided to make things clear about Alexis Sanchez and his immediate future: the Gunners don't want to sell the Chilean forward, regardless of the offers. However, Alexis Sanchez has not signed a contract extension with Arsenal and his current deal runs out at the end of next season, which means he could leave on a free transfer next summer. Moreover, Sanchez has told Chilean media that he wants to play in the Champions League next season, and Arsenal have not qualified for the competition after having finished fifth in the Premier League last term. "The decision has been made and we will stick to that," Wenger said about Sanchez, who has been linked with a move to Manchester City this summer. "The decision is not to sell." Wenger also played down the striker's comments about wanting to play in the Champions League: "I don't give too much importance to things that are translated, you know. The whole interview that I got didn't really mean that." Alexis Sanchez scored 30 goals in 51 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal last season. "The main focus for us is to concentrate on the Premier League and the Premier League for me today is more important than the Champions League," Wenger added. "We rested sometimes players in the group stages of the Champions League for the Premier League so that's become the biggest importance for us. We played 20 years in the Champions League, that's 17 years before Sanchez arrived and three years with him so he can get us back in there." Arsenal have signed two players so far this summer: left-back Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer from Schalke and striker Alexandre Lacazette for 52 million pounds from Lyon. Arsenal are 11/1 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title next season.
