Premier League: Arsenal have bid for Alexandre Lacazette rejected
Arsenal have made an offer for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette but the Ligue 1 club rejected the bid. It is believed that negotiations are still ongoing, but Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas said earlier this week that they will reject all offers below their valuation of the player, which would be around 50 million pounds. Lacazette had already agreed in principle to join Atletico Madrid, but then the Spanish club were banned from signing new players in this transfer window and the deal fell through. Alexandre Lacazette, aged 26, has played for Lyon during his entire professional career. Last season he scored an impressive 37 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions and he has scored above 20 goals per season during the last four campaigns. Arsenal have also tried to sign AS Monaco 21-year-old midfielder Thomas Lemar, but their offer of around 30 million pounds was turned down. Lemar is regarded as one of the best young players in France, with 14 goals scored in 55 appearances in all competitions for Monaco last season. Meanwhile, Arsenal are still sweating over the future of striker Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean international has not signed a new contract with the Gunners and his current deal expires at the end of next season, which means he could leave the club on a free transfer in 2018. However, Arsenal have not received any official bids for Sanchez yet. Arsenal have signed just one player so far this summer as defender Sead Kolasinac joined on a free transfer from Schalke. Arsenal are 12/1 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title next season.
