World Cup 2018: Iran qualify for final tournament
Iran became the second team to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia after Brazil had already secured their qualification from the South American group. Iran beat Uzbekistan 2-0 in Tehran on Monday thanks to goals from Sardar Azmoun and Mehdi Taremi. The Iranian national team is coached by Carlos Queiroz, who has been an assistant manager at Manchester United before managing Real Madrid and the Portuguese national side. This is the first time that Iran will appear at consecutive World Cup final tournaments. The Iranian team dominated Group A of the Asian qualification section, recording six wins and two draws in their eight matches so far and keeping a clean sheet throughout. The top two teams in each of Asia's two qualifying groups go to the World Cup final tournament, while the teams in third place have to go through a series of play-off ties. Five-time World Cup winners Brazil have already qualified as they dominated a South-American section in which rivals Argentina have shown significant signs of weakness. Russia are automatically qualified for the World Cup as the host nation. Brazil are 7/1 at Bet365 to win the 2018 World Cup, Russia are 33/1 to win the trophy on home soil while Iran could make somebody very rich as they are 1000/1 to win the tournament.
