Premier League: Yaya Sanogo to leave Arsenal
French striker Yaya Sanogo has confirmed that he will be leaving Arsenal this summer as his contract expired and the club didn't make any offers to extend it. Sanogo was regarded as an exceptional prospect when he joined Arsenal from Auxerre back in 2012, but he only managed to score a single goal during his four years with the Gunners. He was sent out on loan four times but failed to make an impact as he suffered several injuries that slowed down his progress. “The adventure ends,” Sanogo said. “I maybe did not always do what was necessary to impose myself. But Wenger is a great manager and he taught me a lot. There is this frustration about not knowing what the source of my pain was. I came back in January, with a fitness trainer, and I was able to play again for Arsenal's reserves. It was very hard when I was injured. You feel so mentally alone.” Sanogo only managed to impress during pre-season friendlies, for instance he scored four goals in a match against Benfica in 2014. Meanwhile, Arsenal prepare to welcome the first signing of the summer: Bosnian international defender Sead Kolasinac. The Gunners had reached an agreement with the Schalke player in April and he will join on a free transfer as his deal with the Bundesliga side expired. Kolasinac is a versatile player, who can cover various positions as left-back, central defender or even midfielder. He scored three goals in 25 league appearances for Schalke last season, mostly playing as a left-back. Arsenal are 12/1 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title next season.
