Premier League: Jose Mourinho looking to sign Ivan Perisic
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has traveled to Zagreb and although the purpose of the visit was not made official by the Portuguese boss, Croatian media have reported that he has made the trip in order to have a chat with Inter Milan and Croatia midfielder before an eventual transfer to Old Trafford. Ivan Perisic, aged 28, is believed to desire a move away from Inter Milan if they fail to qualify for the Champions League this season. And, as Inter sit fifth in the Serie A table, it is very likely that they will miss out on Champions League qualification. Mourinho has arrived in Zagreb on Friday, before Croatia's home match against Ukraine in the World Cup qualification campaign. Ivan Perisic is suspended for the match but he will remain with the Croatia squad for next week's friendly match against Estonia. Perisic has been sent off during the last qualifying match, which Croatia won 2-0 over Iceland in November. The midfielder has 55 caps for the Croatian national team and has scored 16 times for his nation. Ivan Perisic left Croatia at the age of 17, before even making his senior debut for Hajduk Split. He was signed by French side Sochaux, then moved to Belgium at Club Brugge, then in Germany at Borussia Dortmund and VfL Wolfsburg. Inter Milan paid 16 million euros to Wolfsburg for Perisic in August 2015, and the midfielder went on to score 16 Serie A goals in 59 appearances for Inter. This season he managed to score nine goals for Inter in Serie A and another five goals in Europe. Manchester United are 13/8 at Bet365 to finish inside the Premier League top four this season.
