Premier League: Jamie Vardy received death threats over Ranieri's sacking
Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy says he has received death threats and his family had some unpleasant incidents after Foxes manager Claudio Ranieri was sacked. The Italian boss was sacked in February, just nine months after having achieved the impossible by taking Leicester City to the Premier League crown. There have been media reports speculating that the players organized a revolt in order to determine the club board to sack the Italian manager, but Jamie Vardy rejects those accusations. "It is terrifying," Vardy said. "I read one story that said I was personally involved in a meeting after the Sevilla game when I was actually sat in anti-doping for three hours. But then the story is out there, people pick it up and jump on it and you're getting death threats about your family, kids, everything. When people are trying to cut your missus up while she's driving, with the kids in the back of the car, it's not the best." However, multiple reports verify that at least some of the Leicester players had a meeting with the board after the 2-1 Champions League defeat at Sevilla and then the board decided to sack Ranieri. "If there was an issue, you went and did it in the gaffer's office or you went and did it on the tactics board, because he was happy for you to come in and put your opinion across," Vardy added about Ranieri's time at the club. Craig Shakespeare replaced Claudio Ranieri and was given a contract until the end of the season after leading the Foxes to four consecutive wins in all competitions. Moreover, Leicester pulled through to the Champions League quarter-finals, remaining the only English side in the competition at this stage. Leicester City are now 25/1 at Bet365 to get relegated this season.
