UEFA Champions League: Barcelona vs Paris Saint-Germain preview

Barcelona will try to do the impossible on Wednesday as they host Paris Saint-Germain at Camp Nou in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League clash. The French side demolished Barcelona 4-0 in the first leg, a well-deserved result after a nearly perfect performance against the Catalan giants. PSG have not managed to knock out Barcelona in the Champions League since 1995, when they pulled through after a 2-1 victory at home and a 1-1 draw in Spain. Since then, Barcelona went through in all three ties they faced against PSG.

After the painful 4-0 setback at PSG, Barcelona recovered and recorded four consecutive LaLiga wins, moving at the top of the table thanks to Real Madrid's slip-ups. Last week they hammered Gijon 6-1 before demolishing Celta Vigo 5-0 at the weekend. They would need a similar result against PSG, but achieving that would be a lot tougher than routing those LaLiga sides. Aleix Vidal and Jeremy Mathieu are the only injury worries for head coach Luis Enrique, who might choose to field a 3-4-3 formation for this match after having experimented it in previous games.

Paris Saint-Germain are unbeaten in all competitions since December 17, they recorded no less than 14 wins and two draws since then. Last weekend they squeezed past Nancy 1-0 in Paris, keeping their gap behind league leaders AS Monaco to three points. Marquinhos and Adrien Rabiot are one booking away from suspension in the Champions League, so head coach Unai Emery will probably choose to leave them out of this match. Angel Di Maria did not play last weekend but he should be able to recover from a knock before Wednesday's match.

Probable line-ups:

Barcelona: Ter Stegen - Pique, Umtiti, Alba - Rafinha, Busquets, Iniesta, Rakitic - Messi, Suarez, Neymar

PSG: Trapp - Meunier, Marquinhos, Silva, Kurzawa - Verratti, Rabiot, Matuidi - Di Maria, Cavani, Draxler

My prediction: Barcelona to win 3-2.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Barcelona win - 1.44
Draw - 5.25
PSG win - 7.00

For sure this match will be mentioned for years to come, especially if Barcelona manage to win the cup in the end.
I personally believed it's possible before the game, it was obvious that Barcelona won't forget that shameful performance in the first match and they will throw everything in this but when PSG scored trough middle of the second half I thought it's all over!
What happened after that is incredible really but obviously all the money in the world cant buy you a character.
