Premier League: Leicester City campaign "embarrassing", says Kasper Schmeichel
Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel described his team's performances this season as "embarrassing" and added that they could well get relegated if they keep going like this. The Foxes are now just one point above the relegation zone after getting thrashed 3-0 at home by Manchester United on Sunday. Leicester have not won any league matches in 2017 and have failed to score in their last five Premier League games. "We're the reigning champions but quite frankly it's been terrible," Kasper Schmeichel said after Sunday's match. "Every player is hurting. It's not a situation that is comfortable. It's time for everyone to stand up and be counted because if we don't we're going to end up getting relegated." The goalkeeper did not want to comment on speculation that manager Claudio Ranieri has lost the support of his players. "We're together. I'm happy with the players and they're happy with me. We have to stay together and keep fighting," Ranieri said, trying to dismiss the rumours. Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho defended Ranieri. "For many years people will remember what he did," Mourinho said. "They are finding it difficult. But we know their strength well. I'm sure they will get enough points to stay in the league." Leicester City are now 9/4 at Bet365 to get relegated from the Premier League at the end of the current season.
