Premier League: Manchester City title chase over, says Pep Guardiola

After his side lost 4-0 at Everton on Sunday, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola admitted that the Citizens are now out of the title race. Man City are now ten points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea and the Spanish manager said that the gap is too big for his side to get back in the title race. Guardiola urged his players to stick together and forget about the league table until the end of the season. Guardiola added: "At the end of the season, we are going to evaluate our level and how our performance was, how the coach was, how the players were. After that we are going to decide." The manager did say that he is happy at the club despite the disappointing results. The Citizens are now fifth in the league table, two points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, so if the season ended today they would miss out on Champions League football. Manchester City dominated possession at Goodison Park, they always did that this season regardless of the opponent, but they conceded four goals from six shots on target. Their defence was only able to keep four clean sheets in the Premier League all season, a performance that is more familiar to relegation-threatened teams. Guardiola added: "I said to the players be positive because you made some fantastic things during the season and for many reasons we didn't get what I think we deserved. We created chances but don't score and when they have a chance, they punish us."
