NBA and FanDuel Partner in Mobile Fantasy Game
Having recently partnered with FanDuel, the National Basketball Association (NBA), has officially joined the daily fantasy sports (DFS) market. Together, they have launched a brand, new fantasy game, formatted for MOBILE play, and accessible on Android and iOS devices. The title debuted this past Thursday. The new game is being referred to as ‘NBA InPlay’ and will serve as a real-time offering, available for play during televised NBA events. It has been designed to recognize the audio of NBA games on cable or satellite. Users may select one of two teams competing, and select up to four players to earn points from, for the opportunity to score official NBA prizes. Users may also utilize something called, turbo boosts, to build up points from the selected four players in 48-second intervals. According to senior vice president of digital media for the NBA, Melissa Rosenthal Brenner, “We are always looking at ways to enhance the viewing experience, drive people to tune in to our broadcasts and increase the time spent watching live games. NBA InPlay has the potential to meet these objectives while offering our fans an engaging, new way to experience the game.” Co-founder and chief product officer for FanDuel, Tom Griffiths, added, "Our mission is to offer sports fans exciting new ways to engage with the players and teams they love, through innovative sports entertainment products.
