Back Ligue 1: Bordeaux vs Nice preview

Surprise Ligue 1 leaders Nice will be looking to continue their impressive run when they visit Bordeaux on Wednesday evening. The two teams have met in the League Cup last week and Bordeaux prevailed 3-2. Last season Nice recorded a stunning 6-1 success over Bordeaux at home, while the reverse fixture ended 0-0. Overall, both teams won twice in the last six direct meetings in Ligue 1.

Bordeaux are navigating in mid-table after having secured six wins, six draws and six defeats so far this season. They have not won in four league matches though, and have lost all their last three games. Last time out they lost 4-0 at Montpellier and also lost two players as both Adam Ounas and Jeremy Menez are suspended after being sent off in that game. Maxime Poundje, Thomas Toure, Cedric Carrasso and Youssouf Sabaly are injured and will miss out.

Nice have performed way above expectations so far and are leading the Ligue 1 table with a four-point cushion over second-placed Monaco. They have not lost a league match since the start of November and have won four of their last six matches. Ricardo Pereira will most likely miss out but star striker Mario Balotelli should be able to play. Dante and Younes Belhanda are not fully fit and they will probably enter the winter break early.

Probable line-ups:

Bordeaux: Prior - Gajic, Sertic, Pallois, Pellenard - Plasil, Toulalan, Vada - Kamano, Laborde, Rolan

Nice: Cardinale - Souquet, Dante, Sarr, Boscagli - Ceri, Cyprien, Koziello - Plea, Balotelli, Marcel

My prediction: 1-1 draw.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Bordeaux win - 2.70 Draw - 3.10 Nice win - 2.80
