UEFA Champions League: Real Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund preview

Real Madrid will be hoping to finish top of Group F with a victory over Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday at Santiago Bernabeu. The reverse fixture produced a spectacular match, it ended 2-2 in Dortmund with Andre Schurrle scoring the equaliser late in the game. Although Dortmund have beaten Real Madrid in two of the last five meetings, they never managed to win away from home against the Blancos.

Real Madrid are quite happy with life at the moment, they secured a 1-1 draw in the Clasico last weekend and preserved their six-point advantage over Barcelona in LaLiga, while in the Champions League they have the chance of winning the group. They are two points behind Dortmund due to their unlikely 3-3 draw at Legia Warsaw, but if they win on Wednesday they are guaranteed to finish top. Toni Kroos, Alvaro Morata and Gareth Bale will miss out through injury.

Dortmund fans had lots of fun so far in the Champions League group, they won four and drew one, scoring no less than 19 goals in five matches. Last time out they produced an unthinkable show at home against Legia Warsaw, it ended 8-4 and it's the highest scoring match in the Champions League era. Last weekend they beat Borussia Monchengladbach 4-1 in the Bundesliga, so their scoring appetite doesn't seem to fade. Mario Gotze is injured, along with Roman Burki and Sven Bender.

Probable line-ups:

Real Madrid: Navas - Carvajal, Ramos, Varane, Marcelo - Kovacic, Modric, Isco - Vazquez, Benzema, Ronaldo

Dortmund: Weidenfeller - Piszczek, Sokratis, Bartra, Passlack - Weigl - Dembele, Castro, Kagawa, Reus - Aubameyang

My prediction: Real Madrid to win 3-2.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Real Madrid win - 1.85
Draw - 4.00
Dortmund win - 4.20

Those two teams made a couple of entertaining games in their two group meetings.
Dortmund came from behind in both but it was particularly impressive in the second match when they overcome 2-0 deficit to tied it up which also allowed them to top the group.
In the end both teams qualified for the knock-out stage without any competition from the other two teams in the group.
