UEFA Champions League: Bayern Munich vs Atletico Madrid preview

Atletico Madrid are looking to become the only team to end this season's Champions League group stage with maximum points, but they will have to overcome mighty Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday if they want to achieve that. They did beat the German giants 1-0 in the reverse fixture, but beating Bayern in front of their own fans is a whole different story. The two teams have also met in last season's semi-finals, when Atletico pulled through on away goals after a 1-0 win at home and a 2-1 defeat away.

Bayern Munich have already secured second place in Group D but they will be disappointed to finish behind Atletico Madrid. They can't finish top as Atletico have a six-point advantage, but a victory against the Spaniards would heal some wounds and boost confidence for the upcoming battles. Bayern surprisingly lost 3-2 at Rostov last time out, a defeat that came just a few days after a loss to rivals Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga. Bayern have won two consecutive matches since then, 2-1 at home over Leverkusen and 3-1 at Mainz last week. Kingsley Coman and Julian Green are injured, while Philipp Lahm and Jerome Boateng one booking away from a ban and head coach Carlo Ancelotti will probably choose to rest them.

Atletico are the only team on maximum points in this season's Champions League, they might not care much about keeping the 100% record but they will surely do their best to at least avoid defeat. Last week they were held to a goalless draw at home by Espanyol in LaLiga, a disappointing result after three consecutive wins in all competitions. Alessio Cerci and Augusto Fernandez are injured, while Filipe Luis will most likely be rested as he is just one yellow card away from suspension. Fernando Torres might also miss out due to injury problems.

Probable line-ups:

Bayern: Neuer - Kimmich, Martinez, Hummels, Alaba - Vidal, Alcantara - Robben, Muller, Costa - Lewandowski

Atletico: Oblak - Juanfran, Gimenez, Godin, Hernandez - Saul, Gabi, Koke, Carrasco - Gameiro, Griezmann

My prediction: 1-1 draw.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

Bayern win - 1.65
Draw - 4.00
Atletico win - 6.00

I expect one hard and great game tonight at the Allianz Arena where Bayern will try to win and get revange Atletico Madrid.
Atletico will surely miss Fernando Torres coz he is man for big games, but also they have Carrasco and Griezmann.
    I predict Bayern win 1:0 or 2:0
