Belgium international goalkeeper Simon Mignolet says he will not accept being the number two goalie at Liverpool behind Loris Karius. The German was bought by Liverpool this summer for 5 million pounds from Bundesliga outfit Mainz. Mignolet started the season as the number one choice between the sticks, but that was only because Karius had a broken hand.
Once the German recovered, Jurgen Klopp stated quite clearly that he will be his number one choice. Mignolet was given the chance to play again for the first time since September, this week he played well during Liverpool's 2-1 victory over Tottenham in the League Cup. The Belgium goalkeeper has made 113 league appearances for Liverpool since joining them from Sunderland in 2013.
"I don't want to be a number two, that's clear. I want to play," Mignolet said after the match. "I will never give up fighting because that's not in my character to just give up. Secondly, because I am not in a situation where I can sit on the bench. I'm 28 years old and I want to play week-in, week-out. So I'll work hard and I'll never give up - giving up is not what I want to do. I see it as a challenge that I can overcome. So hopefully it will be a fair challenge based on performances put in on the pitch."
Liverpool are 10/3 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title this season.

No doubt both of them is a class goalkeeper, but in my opinion the German one has the ability to become a world-class one. Karius is only 23 years old but he seems really confident and don't foget he was signed by Jurgen Klopp. I think Mignolet has no chance to regain the number one spot but his attitude is honorable....

He should find a new team on loan. And don't forget Klopp would like to sign Joe Hart, so I think the German coach doesn't trust in the Belgium No. 1.

Yes it seems that Mignolet is on his way...away..there's a rhyme too. I respect any player who wants to play and not just sit on the bench and take his pay-check at the end of the week but saying that I think Mignolet is fully aware that he probably won't receive many chances from now on so I think he's really saying -...
