League Cup: Manchester United vs Manchester City preview
The second Manchester derby of the season will take place on Wednesday as United and City clash at Old Trafford in the EFL Cup. The two sides have already met once this season in the Premier League, also at Old Trafford, and Manchester City won 2-1 on that occasion. Before that, Manchester United won two of the last three direct meetings, but Manchester City won three of the last five meetings at Old Trafford. Manchester United suffered a painful 4-0 defeat at Chelsea last weekend, a bitter return for Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge. That result put an end to a six-match unbeaten streak for the Red Devils. The first defeat of the season for United was the derby loss to City, and that result sparked a three-game losing streak for Mourinho and his men. Wayne Rooney picked up a knock last weekend and might not be able to play, while Marouane Fellaini, Eric Bailly and Phil Jones will certainly miss out. After ten consecutive wins in all competitions at the start of the season, Manchester City seem to be losing steam. They have not tasted victory in five matches, losing two in the process. Last weekend they had to fight back from 1-0 down to clinch a point against Southampton at the Etihad Stadium, while a few days before that they got thrashed 4-0 by Barcelona in the Champions League. Bacary Sagna and Kevin De Bruyne are injured and won't be able to play. Probable line-ups: Man United: De Gea - Valencia, Smalling, Blind, Shaw - Herrera, Carrick, Pogba - Rashford, Ibrahimovic, Martial Man City: Bravo - Adarabioyo, Kompany, Otamendi - Sane, Gundogan, Garcia, Fernandinho, Kolarov - Silva - Aguero My prediction: Manchester City to win 2-1. Here are the odds for the match at Bet365: Man United win - 2.70 Draw - 3.40 Man City win - 2.80
