World number one Novak Djokovic has announced his withdrawal from the China Open in Beijing, a tournament that will be played next week. The reason for his decision was an elbow injury. Djokovic won the title in Beijing six times until now. His last match was at the US Open, the final which he lost to Stan Wawrinka. The next tournament in Djokovic's schedule is the Shaghai Masters which kicks off on October 10. Novak Djokovic has won seven titles this year, including two Grand Slams.
"I am extremely disappointed not to be able to compete at the China Open this year," said Djokovic. "I'm still recovering from my elbow injury and have been advised not to play until my condition improves. I will continue with my rehabilitation and hope to be able to return to the ATP Tour as soon as possible." Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal are scheduled to feature in the Beijing ATP tournament, but world number 3 and US Open winner Stan Wawrinka will not take part.
The Shanghai Masters and the Paris Masters will be the last two major tournaments before the ATP World Tour Finals in London. Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka have already secured their qualification, while the other five places are still up for grabs. Novak Djokovic is 4/5 at Sky Bet to win the World Tour Finals this year, Andy Murray is 9/4 to end the year with that title while Stan Wawrinka is 7/1 to wrap up his season with a tournament title in London.

Yes agreed with Markotik, he wont miss just like that a tournament he won six times before! Obviously the injury is serious but tat just proves that it seemed not to be his year especially after Roland Garros after which all the problems came for Djoko. But it could be for good also, the rest is always a needed thing in...

Now it is obvious that the injury was/is serious. Asian swing is surely one of the favorites for Novak and it is highly doubtful he would miss if it wasn't that serious.
