Premier League: West Ham deserved fourth consecutive defeat, says Slaven Bilic
West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic was not in a forgiving mood following his side's fourth consecutive defeat in the Premier League, 3-0 at home against Southampton on Sunday. Charlie Austin, Dusan Tadic and James Ward-Prowse scored for the Saints as the Hammers sunk into the relegation zone after one win and five losses so far this season. West Ham have brought in no less than 13 new players last summer. Bilic said after the match: "We are not the first or the last team who has been in this situation in the Premier League and most of it is about confidence, but the club has the same players and the same manager who did good things last year. I told the players after we lost to West Brom that there is no need to panic, the credit was there for a lot of them. But now that credit is gone." West Ham have also been knocked out of the Europa League before reaching the group stage after a 1-1 draw away and a 1-0 loss at home against Romanian champions Astra Giurgiu. The Hammers have conceded 11 goals in their last three matches. Next weekend they will host newly-promoted Middlesbrough at London Stadium before the international break. Slaven Bilic is currently second in the Premier League "Sack Race", he is 11/4 at Bet365 to become the first top-fight manager in England to lose his job. The top contender is Swansea manager Francesco Guidolin at 5/4.
