Premier League: Arsenal to make improved offer for Alexandre Lacazette
Arsenal have not given up on French striker Alexandre Lacazette and they are preparing to persuade Lyon with an improved offer, according to Sky Sports sources. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger had admitted that he wants a new forward ahead of the new season, but their offer worth 30 million pounds for Lacazette was rejected by Lyon last week. West Ham had also been interested in the 25-year-old earlier this summer, but eventually decided to pursue other targets. Lacazette has scored 48 league goals for Lyon in the past two season and has signed a new four-year deal with the club last summer. The French club want 40 million pounds for the striker, but president Jean-Marc Aulas expects to keep him at least for another season. Lacazette has earned 10 caps for the French national team after coming through the youth ranks at Lyon. He has a record of 92 goals scored in 230 appearances for the Ligue 1 club. Arsenal have signed just three players during this summer's transfer window: midfielder Granit Xhaka, defender Rob Holding and Japanese forward Takuma Asano. Arsenal are 13/2 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title next season.
