Bulgarian Basketball Partners with Sportradar to Combat Match-Fixing
In order to protect the integrity of competition, the Bulgarian Basketball Federation has announced its partnership with renowned security service, Sportradar, to monitor online betting operations. Sportradar's Fraud Detection System (FDS) is in place to oversee live betting on over 450 betting operators for over 240 regular season and playoff matches for both the Men's and Women's National Basketball Leagues for the 2016/17 season. The Bulgarian Basketball Federation president, Georgi Glushkov, went on record stating, “Our partnership with Sportradar means that we are sending a clear message," and "That message is: 'Bulgarian basketball values the fair play and wants to develop according to the sport's principles'. Match-fixing is, unfortunately, an involved problem in many sporting events, across many sport leagues, and the newly announced partnership is Bulgaria's proclamation that, “We want match-fixers to fear us. We want them to understand that Bulgaria is dedicated to clean basketball where the talent and abilities of the players and coaches win in a fair game” Andreas Krannich, Security Services Managing Director for Sportradar, discussed the development and goals for their Fraud Detection System, stating “It was two years ago that we developed and launched the first version of basketball's Fraud Detection System, completely attuned to the realities of this unique sport and its global betting markets. We have worked with a range of basketball's federations, from the international, through to the national. We appreciate this vote of confidence from the Bulgarian Federation and the brave way they protect the integrity of both their men's and women's competition. We will work with them over the coming months to safeguard this exciting sport."
