Premier League: It's official, Manchester City sign Ilkay Gundogan

Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Germany midfielder Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund. The player has signed a four-year deal with his new club. The 25-year-old midfielder is the first signing for Manchester City under new manager Pep Guardiola. Gundogan will not play at Euro 2016 and will also miss the start of the next Premier League season due to a serious knee injury. The transfer fee reportedly is around 20 million pounds.

"When I learned of City's interest my heart was set on coming. Things things have moved very quickly," Gundogan said. Manchester City director of football Txiki Begiristain was impressed by the midfielder's "work ethic and technical ability". "He is an intelligent and versatile midfielder who can operate in a number of different roles," Begiristain said. "He will be a very important player for us in the coming years."

Gundogan suffered a painful injury as he dislocated his kneecap in training at the start of May. He was unlucky two years ago as well as he missed the 2014 World Cup due to a back problem that kept him sidelined for most of the season. "The opportunity to work with a coach like Pep Guardiola is something I am really looking forward to and I am flattered to be the first signing the club has made this summer," Gundogan added. "I will give everything to help us win titles both in England and the Champions League. These are exciting times. I have my best years ahead of me and I think we can achieve great things together."

Manchester City are 7/4 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title next season.

I think that this is great transfer for Manchester City, Fernando and Fernandinho are solid players, but I think that they are not good enough for club like Manchester City, Gundoan is great player, he has good tehnique, he is maybe injured now, but he will great signing for City.

Well, Pep Guardiola didn't even landed in Manchester and he already started reconstruction of a team that gave their maximum this season in my opinion. Great signing, one of the best Borussia's players will be commanding midfield at Etihad Stadium from the next season. Manchester City first needs to sell all those mid-class players and then to start signing top class ones, like they used to do until few years back.

Well at least they pay a decent price for him. Man United spent a lot more on Mkhitaryan and I'm honestly not sure which deal is better. This season in the Premier League would be a big unknown because all these new managers and players in the leading teams so I guess it would be one more crazy season.

Borussia Dortmund still have good players and selling them take a lot of money . Gundogan is one of them . Unfortunately , he did not play at Euro 2016 because he had a knee injury . Pep knows that he is a good midfielder and he will be very useful to his team. Yaya Toure and Gundogan will be a great tandem in midfield . I hope they play together and will cooperate perfectly .
