Back Copa America: Kaka out of Brazil squad

Brazil star midfielder Kaka has withdrawn from the nation's Copa America squad due to a hamstring injury just three days before the team's first match at the tournament. The 34-year-old midfielder had earlier replaced Bayern Munich's Douglas Costa, who had pulled out due to an injury. Ricardo Oliveira Santos, Ederson and Rafinha are also unavailable for Brazil.

Kaka is currently playing for Major League Soccer side Orlando City. He picked up the injury during a training session at Brazil's training camp in Los Angeles. This would have been his first Copa America and, considering his age, this could have been his last chance to play at this tournament.

"Kaka has had discomfort in training and has had an MRI, which showed a small problem. Doctors indicate between 15 and 20 days of recovery," Brazilian Football Confederation official Gilmar Rinaldi said. Kaka, a former FIFA World Playe of the Year, will be replaced by Paulo Henrique Ganso from Sao Paulo, pending formal clearance from CONMEBOL.

Copa America will start on Friday when USA face Colombia in the opening match. Brazil are 9/2 at Bet365 to win the tournament.
