Back Premier League: Romelu Lukaku wants to leave Everton

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has confirmed the recent rumours: he wants to leave the club as soon as possible, preferably this summer. The 23-year-old forward scored 25 goals this season but the Toffees only managed a disappointing 11th-place finish in the Premier League. Manager Roberto Martinez was sacked as a result, while Lukaku might move back to Chelsea, his former club. Manchester United and Bayern Munich could also be interested.

Everton have a new owner, Farhad Moshiri, and Lukaku admits he will have a discussion with him but seems determined to leave the club. "I'm at a point where I have to make a good career choice," Lukaku said. "We have a new investor at Everton and out of courtesy I will listen to what he has to say. But I have my own ideas in mind. I want to win titles. I have had a very good season, but it is time for me to write myself a CV. That is why I play football. I got that trophy-winning mindset from Chelsea. People in Belgium don't see me playing for Everton, but I am respected by fans, managers and experts like Jamie Carragher, Graeme Souness and Thierry Henry."

Romelu Lukaku was a teenage sensation at Anderlecht in Belgium, where he made his debut at just 16 years old. He scored 33 league goals in 73 appearances for the Belgian club before joining Chelsea in 2011. He hasn't scored any goals for the Blues in three years as he was loaned out to West Bromwich Albion and Everton before making a permanent move to the Toffees for a club record fee of 28 million pounds.
