Back Premier League: Leicester in bid for CSKA Moscow's Ahmed Musa

Premier League champions Leicester City have made an offer worth around 23 million pounds for CKSA Moscow striker Ahmed Musa, according to the Russian club's head coach Leonid Slutskiy. The Foxes had tried to sign the Nigerian international during the January transfer window, but the two clubs were unable to reach an agreement. Musa has made 44 appearances and scored 18 goals this season for CSKA Moscow. The club clinched the Russian Premier league title.

Leicester will be looking to strengthen their squad for next season, considering that they will also have to play in the Champions League. Slutskiy also revealed the Nigerian striker would want to move to the English Premier League to work with Claudio Ranieri. "The British club offered a bit less than €30m (£22.86m)," he said. "Musa came to me a few days ago and asked when Ranieri is back for the holidays and I told him I do not know, I do not know Ranieri."

In January Leicester were unable to meet CSKA's demands for Musa, believed to have been around 18 million pounds. The 23-year-old striker is currently with his national team ahead of Nigeria's friendly matches with Mali and Luxembourg. The CSKA manager has admitted that the transfer is very likely to happen, given the offer and the desire of the player. "I do not know for sure," he said. "It is the work of our management but I think the probability is high."

Leicester City are 25/1 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title again next season.
