Veteran Chelsea captain John Terry has signed a new one-year contract with the former Premier League champions. After the last game of the season, which has taken place on Sunday against Leicester, Terry gave an emotional speech in which he insisted that he wanted to remain at the club.
"Everyone knows I'm Chelsea through and through," Terry said. "I am looking forward to next season under the new manager and hopefully we can make it a successful one." The Chelsea skipper has made no less than 703 appearances for the Blues. He has started his career as a professional football player at Stamford Bridge in 1998.
Club chairman Bruce Buck said: "We are delighted John will spend another year at the club. He has been the leader of the Chelsea squad throughout the most successful period in our history. He recently reached the 700-appearance mark, which is testament to his professionalism and dedication as well as his undoubted talent." John Terry has won four Premier League titles with Chelsea, lifted the FA Cup five times, the League Cup three times and also won the Champions League and the Europa League.
Chelsea are 9/2 at William Hill to win the Premier League title next season under new manager Antonio Conte.

I think it's a wise move from Chelsea management, we know that good defenders could play on a highest level even trough their late 30's and in this particular case I still believe Terry is still one of the Chelsea's more important players and in the same time he is a leader on the field.

I am really happy to see this news.It is natural to see clubs doing this,it is best way to say thanks to all the great things that legends like Terry gave to the club.Terry will probably be in rotation, starting some matches, but I expect blues to have signings on the position of central defender.

This is how you should threat legends. Well done Chelsea. You made one mistake with not extending Frank Lampards contract, and not only that it worked out against you, he scored a goal versus team from Stanford Bridge. So yeah, Terrys experience will definitely help Zouma develop even further. And since Cahill is inconsistent,...

I got goosebumps when I watched his speech. Everybody was standing and applauding to him, even Abramovich. True Chelsea legend and a man who is still capable of providing good games. I'm so glad that he's staying. He is staying for 3 times less money, that shows the love for Chelsea.

Good choice by Chelsea managment, and that is the right way to treat their legend and i think terry is still one of the best central back in the league. But maybe its time to sell and earn a litle money by selling Bane Ivanovic who has made a few crucial mistake in defence this year.
