Swansea City have decided to extend the contract of head coach Francesco Guidolin, the Italian boss has signed a new two-year contract with the club. Guidolin took charge at Swansea in January and his contract was due to run out at the end of the current season. The club was in the relegation zone when he was appointed, now the Swans are in 11th place, 12 points clear of the danger area. They could even finish in the top half of the table if the last results of the season favour them.
"Francesco fully deserves the chance to continue his good work into the new campaign," chairman Huw Jenkins said after the agreement was made official. "He was prepared to come into the club at such a difficult time and put himself in a pressure situation with the club fighting for survival. It's going to be another challenge for everyone, but we are looking forward to seeing how far he can take this squad of players over a full season. There has obviously been a lot of speculation over recent weeks about a possible change of manager, but the board has been impressed with the way he has quietly gone about the job of improving performances and results since January."
Swansea won 7 matches out of 15 with Guidolin at the helm, drew three and lost five. They have secured safety on May 1st when they surprisingly defeated Liverpool 3-1. Despite his good results there was speculation linking former Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers with a return to the club, but former Chile manager Marcelo Bielsa was also linked with the job. Swansea are currently in takeover talks with American businessmen Steve Kaplan and Jason Levienm but chairman Huw Jenkins said that the deal would not lead to a change of manager.
If you think that Swansea could do what Leicester have done, you should know that they are 750/1 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title next season.

In my opinion,it is expected to leave Francesco Guidolin on the bench. He was doing his job pretty good ,Swansea finished in the middle and they were far from relegation.Gudiolin is another proof that Italian managers are really good ,especially in the teams that are not expected to do great things, where they can make defensive...

I like Swansea fotball club. Since they managed to promote to premier league from championship in 2010 they really became stable midtable club with producing a lot of great players ( Scott Sinclair, Michu, Joe Allen, Wilfried Bony, Sigurdsson...) with not that big budget they became stable club.

Well eventho 750/1 odds seem tempting I don't think that anything like Liecester City's magnificent season won't be happening any time soon again. Francesco Guidolin did a decent job this season, teams goal at the start of Premier League was to finish midtable and he managed to do so. Italian managers are popular nowdays....

We all do know that they are all about tactic, good defence, and that is what Swansea City actually needs.
