Sunderland have no choice on Saturday: they have to beat Chelsea at the Stadium of Light in order to remain in the race for survival in the Premier League. Chelsea have nothing left to play for, they are getting near the end of a season that they would want to forget as soon as possible. The Black Cats have a terrible record against the Blues though as they won just two of the last 22 direct encounters in the premier League. The last time they beat Chelsea at home was all the way back in 2000 when Kevin Phillips scored the only goal of the match from a penalty kick.
Sunderland are in the relegation zone with just three matches left in the season for them, survival is still possible but they need as many points they can get and as soon as possible. They do have a game in hand over Newcastle, which are the first team over the line at the moment, but the Magpies are playing at already relegated Aston Villa on Saturday and it's reasonable to believe they will get all three points there. The Black Cats have only won 7 matches all season, with six draws in their last nine matches.
Chelsea are preparing to welcome their new manager, Antonio Conte, but Guus Hiddink would prefer to leave the club with a few good results at the end. They have already proven they are willing to play every match at full intensity as they fought back to secure a 2-2 draw against Tottenham on Monday, thus ending all hopes for the title for Mauricio Pochettino and his men. Eden Hazard got back on the score sheet in that match even though he came off the bench, so he might be rewarded with a start this weekend.
Sunderland: Mannone - Yedlin, Kone, Kaboul, Van Aanholt - Kirchhoff, Cattermole, M'Vila - Borini, Khazri - Defoe
Chelsea: Courtois - Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta - Mikel, Fabregas - Willian, Hazard, Pedro - Costa
My prediction: 1-1 draw.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
Sunderland win - 3.00
Draw - 3.50
Chelsea win - 2.45

Crucial game for Sunderland today, but they have a very hard job to do. On the other hand Newcastle have a lot easier match against already relegated Aston Villa. I have no doubts in Newcastle's victory today, and I'm cheering for them, they deserve to stay in Premier, but Sunderland will lose today. Chelsea is going to ruin their dreams like they did with Tottenham. I think Eden Hazard will score a goal again. My prediction 1:2 for Chelsea :)
I believe that my Chelsea is going to win today, and put Sunderland that has been on the edge for going into Championship for years now. I just want to see them gone. And I would like for Newcastle to stay. People saying that Chelsea doesn't have anything to play for, but I disagree, there is honor part. Blues won in their first match this season 3:1, and I can see similar result happening today. I'll go double chance X2 just to be sure.
- Result: 0:2 for Chelsea
- Man of the match: Eden Hazard
What a suprising result yesterday, with that win Sunderland surely deserve to stay in Premier League, Newcastle couldnt win against Aston Villa and now Sunderland has 1 point more and one game less then Newcastle so i think everything is finished and we will watch Newcastle in Championship next year.
Well I guessed how many goals will Chelsea score :D. Unexpected that is for sure, and as a Blues fan I certainly hope that Antonio Conte will spice things up and that team will bounce back next season. No Champions League tho, which is really sad. Let's all cheer for Arsenal today so Guardiola comes to Manchester City and plays Uefa League next season, really not a fan of how things have been done to Pelegrini.
It was another miracle relegation escape for Sunderland this season and it's maybe their third one in four seasons. Obviously this victory was huge for them but they really managed to bring all the pieces together in the last month and a half maybe of the season. Certainly Allardyce knows how to do it.
