Back Premier League: Leicester City interested in unknown Pescara striker

Pescara president Daniele Sebastiani claims he has spoken to Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri about an eventual transfer to England of striker Gianluca Lapadula. Leicester have been crowned Premier League champions with two matches to spare, and it appears they have already started looking around for players that could strengthen their squad for next season.

They have not made big-name signings last summer and it seems they will continue with the policy of buying unknown players that could rise to fame in the Foxes shirt. Pescara are currently playing in the Serie B, the second tier of Italian football, and Gianluca Lapadula has been their star this season after scoring 22 league goals in 34 appearances. He was born in Italy but his mother is Peruvian, so he could still choose to represent the South American nation. He wasn't called up until now even though he is 26 years old.

Pescara president Daniele Sebastiani said: "I received a phone call from Claudio Ranieri some time ago, before Leicester were crowned Premier League champions. It was a courtesy call where we talked about football and he confided to me that he is following our striker with interest. It was not anything official, but only interest."

Leicester City are 25/1 at Bet365 to win the Premier League title again next season.
