Premier League: West Ham United vs Arsenal preview

Arsenal will be looking to keep their uphill title challenge alive while West Ham will try to boost their top-four chances when the two London sides meet at the Boleyn Ground on Saturday. West Ham have beaten Arsenal in the reverse fixture, which was on the opening day of the season, and now they have the chance to do the double over the Gunners for the first time since the 2006-2007 season. Before that defeat Arsenal had been unbeaten in nine Premier League matches against West Ham.

West Ham are unbeaten in nine matches, but they have drawn their last two games and that might prove costly in the race for a top-four finish. The two draws were against Chelsea and Crystal Palace, now they face another London derby with an unpredictable outcome. Those results saw the Hammers drop to sixth position, but they are just three points behind fourth-placed Manchester City.

Arsenal had a disappointing month of March as they got knocked out of the FA Cup and the Champions League, but their title bid might still be just about alive. They are coming from two consecutive wins, 2-0 at Everton and 4-0 over Watford, if they make it three they could continue to hope, depending on what Leicester and Tottenham do on Sunday. The Gunners are 11 points behind Leicester but they do have a game in hand, while Tottenham are just four points away. Petr Cech should reclaim his place between the sticks after a month on the sidelines, while Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini are also back from injuries.

Probable line-ups:

West Ham: Adrian - Tomkins, Reid, Ogbonna, Cresswell - Kouyate, Noble - Antonio, Payet, Lanzini - Sakho

Arsenal: Cech - Bellerin, Koscielny, Gabriel, Monreal - Coquelin, Elneny - Sanchez, Ozil, Iwobi - Welbeck

My prediction: Arsenal to win 2-1.

Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:

West Ham win - 3.80
Draw - 3.75
Arsenal win - 2.00

I think this is a game in which Arsenal loses any chance for the title. West Ham plays very nice football this season and they will fight to the end for the place that leads to Europe. It would be a great success for them if they qualify. Therefore, I expect a tough match, with the tie score.
    My prediction - draw 1:1

Arsenal today lost a chance to win title. They were two goals up early, but in the end had to settle for point. Both teams have something to regret but draw in the end is a fair result. Slaven Bilić is doing amazing job in West Ham, he even managed to re-live Andy Carroll. Arsenal are now 10 points behind Leicester and their title race is unofficialy over.

This was really spectacular match. We saw 6 goals and real fight on the midfield.Andy Carroll showed that he still can be considered as a great Premier League striker, with a hat-trick.I am not sure ,but I think this is his first hat-trick after many many seasons. I must mention again Dimitri Payet who is playing in great form and I would not be surprised if he gets reward for the best player in this season.

Arsenal is third on the list, West Ham United is the sixth. I expect Arsenal to win. Arsenal 's advantage four victories. What are the losses concerned, Arsenal is also an advantage of five. Not too bad play, but I expected more. The result is an expected, draw. Arsenal is still at a higher position on the list and thats good for them.

It was clear that this is going to be a tough game for the Gunners especially when we know the form of the Hammers lately. West Ham even has some CL spot chances so all to play for. In the end it was quite an entertaining game and shared points but that was no good for any of those two teams. Arsenal says good buy to any champions ambitions and West Ham pretty much to those for top 4.
